The Human Queen and her Baobab Hand

This painting came about gradually.

I hadn't planned on a queen.

I followed the painting… and little by little, it appeared.

A woman.

A calm, connected presence.

She adorns herself with light, grass, and feathers.

On the right, a shape has emerged.

I saw a baobab tree there that had transformed and which, as if by design,

it seemed to me that his raised hand was becoming...

as if she were sprinkling the world with love.

For me, the baobab is the tree of speech and transmission.

The one under which we gather,

we listen,

that's what the story goes.

A place where stories are still passed from mouth to mouth.

So this hand isn't there for decoration.

She is watching.

It protects.

She transmits.

In its shadow, I imagine the storytellers,

those who still know how to craft the essential words:

words of love,

of nature,

animals,

humans.

Within matter, other presences also appear,

discreet, vibrant,

as if the entire living being participated in the message.

And then, almost hidden, are these words inscribed in the painting:

Queen, serene, humane, certain.

I love you.

I wanted them like a whisper.

Something that you discover if you take the time to look.

Ultimately, this painting might simply be about this:

of a word that circulates

and a love that is passed on.

If you look closely…

You might see it there:

  • a baobab hand

  • a woman adorned with light, grass, and feathers

  • animal presences
