Peter and the Wolf Reimagined: A Symphony of Forms and Imagination

In my creations, the story is born from shapes, textures, and colors. Nothing is planned; everything is built through the inspirations the canvas inspires me. My reinvented painting, Peter and the Wolf, is a perfect illustration of this spontaneous approach, where each element finds its place in a continuously evolving story.

An enchanted forest comes to life

At first, they are just spots of color and abstract traces on the canvas.

But soon they transform: here a nest, there an animal form, elsewhere a fragment of light.

Every detail inspires a role.

Zooming in on my first sketch of the character, we see the wolf's positioning, the lake with the little boat, the chicks are there, the branch is not yet formed, nor the tree that holds the branch, a rocking duck's head will disappear in favor of the branch, because I could not erase this nest which is by chance on the wolf's buttocks. This choice, almost childish, gives the painting a note of humor and a lightness which contrasts with Prokoviev's wolf.

I will make the bird disappear under the little karateka who does not yet know that the force is with him.

Now let's zoom in on the right side. I try to put a rope in Pierre's hand, but I feel like it's not conclusive.

Peter and the wolf turn their backs on each other!

The duck is in place.

Pierre's little bird friend too.

The kingfisher is suggested, the cat, velvet paw, at its side.

Above, a squirrel that adds nothing, which I erase without regret.

The silhouette of the peacock is there, the grandfather hunter and his rifle too.

The cat up there is already watching the boat while waiting for the wolf.

When the magic happens

Faced with the difficulty of depicting Peter catching the wolf with a rope, I opted for a mix of universes: Peter becomes a young magician, armed with a wand that connects him to the imagination of Harry Potter. Light swirls around him, while his magic unfolds to protect the animals, but also the wolf.

The elements of the table then naturally find their role:

  • The kingfisher absorbs a magical scent. The blue spots, which lead toward the lake, represent the path taken by the lake. It guides the hypnotized wolf to the lake, where it can find peace without harming this magical place.

  • The majestic peacock becomes a magical fan, spreading the bewitching fragrance towards the lake.

  • The tiny but courageous karate bird tries to chase the wolf away with comical determination.

  • The pink bird , exhausted, sneezes loudly, allergic to all the surrounding magic.

  • As for the cat , intrigued but overwhelmed by events, he decides to follow the wolf, more out of curiosity and survival than malice.

I couldn't let Pierre's Grandfather brandish a rifle in my world. All my characters are touched by magic, and he, too, deserved his metamorphosis. Under my brushes, his weapon transformed into a bouquet of broom flowers, vibrant with life and hope, as if the earth itself had chosen to bloom in his hands.

The musical tale of my childhood, Peter and the Wolf , left its mark on me. But a wolf in the zoo and a duck in its belly? That didn't suit my world. In my paintings, poetry invites itself, and violence fades to make way for harmony. My tale, still silent, is an ode to humor, tenderness, and the magic of enchantment.

A calligram story

To complete this work, I enjoy making my characters interact through a calligram. The shapes of the words dance across the canvas, like a poetic extension of the visual story.

A painting, a living story

For me, Peter and the Wolf isn't just a painting. It's a living story that continues to evolve in the imagination of those who view it. The shapes, colors, and characters invite you to invent your own narrative.

What will become of the Wolf and the Cat, near the lake, far from here?

And the chicks nestled in the Wolf's ass, under the guard of the Grand Duke, their guardian angel?

Will the Pink Bird, so tired, recover?

And the karate bird, will he give lessons?

Is Le Canard already training for the Paris marathon?

And will Grandfather, his bouquet of broom in hand, become a florist?

Will Peter go to wizard school with his friend, the ambassador of the little birds?

And the Peacock, you might ask... will it become an air conditioner?

And finally, shouldn't we find a musician to orchestrate the story of this painting?
